About AFCOM's Chapter Program

The local chapter program was designed to help members build strong relationships with peers, share information and learn from industry experts. This is done through regional meetings that take place in small group settings. Members who participate in this program often consider it to be the number one benefit of their AFCOM membership.

Each local chapter is made up of an official board of directors and a minimum of 10 AFCOM members. The board of directors must be comprised of no less than five AFCOM members and as many as seven. Chapter meetings take place monthly, bi-monthly or quarterly.

Chapter formation procedures:
Contact AFCOM’s membership services department to notify them of your interest in starting a chapter.

You will be sent a copy of the chapter bylaws. Once you have reviewed the bylaws a time will be set up with a membership representative to discuss the formation procedures.

Member sets up a date/time/location for the chapter development meeting. At this meeting you will meet with other interested members/non members in your area to discuss the formation of a chapter. The membership services department will create and send the invitation. The goal of this first meeting is to enroll at least 10 members as well as electing the board.

Have all board members sign the bylaws and return to AFCOM.

Once all paperwork is complete you will be sent a letter recognizing you as an AFCOM chapter. All chapters are then officially chartered at Data Center World’s spring conference.
