A: AFCOM was founded in 1980, and has come to be recognized as the leading association supporting data center professionals and the data center industry.

A: AFCOM is a leading association supporting the educational and business development needs of data center management, executives and vendors around the globe. AFCOM provides data center professionals with unique networking opportunities and educational forums and resources through its annual Data Center World® conferences, published magazines, regional chapters, research and hotline services, and industry alliances.
Q: What does the acronym AFCOM stand for?
A: Originally, AFCOM was the acronym for the Association for Computer Operations Management. Now, however, it’s simply AFCOM. Over the years, the association’s mission and audience have grown well beyond computer operations management, but the AFCOM name has come to be widely recognized as a trusted “brand” in the data center industry, which is why it is still employed.
Q: How many members does AFCOM have?
A: The AFCOM membership base represents more than 4,000 of the world’s largest data centers. Since 2003, AFCOM’s membership has grown 140 percent.
Q: Who are AFCOM’s members?
A: AFCOM members are any and all professionals related to data center management and operations, including data center managers, operations managers, MIS directors, CIOs, CTOs and other IS/IT professionals.
AFCOM members represent a wide range of industries, including government, information services, insurance, healthcare, manufacturing and distribution, financial services, universities, high-tech, consulting, telecommunications, utilities, and more.
