Paul Kirn

President

Paul is the Data Centre Manager for an energy utility. Paul’s role sees him managing a number of mission critical data centre facilities that together play a role in ensuring both IT and Operational Technology (OT) systems are operated efficiently and reliably. Having worked in the ICT sector for over 27 years Paul has seen the evolution of IT equipment, Networks and their capabilities and the ever changing Data Centre eco system. As a valued member of the Brisbane chapter board he brings a tremendous amount of knowledge and experience but also challenges chapter members with his thought leadership style.

Byron Wallace

Vice President

Byron is Principle advisor for Data Centres with the Strategic Directions Group who are regarded as one of the leading data centre design and planning specialists in the Australia. The company is the design authority for the $220 million Tier 3+ Polaris Data Centre, which was commissioned in early 2009 in Springfield Central, South East Queensland.

Byron is a Data Centre professional with over 19 years in the IT industry and major data centres throughout Australia. Byron has a very strong design focus with a ‘hands on’ approach and technical knowledge. His qualifications as a heavy industry electrician from the Yabulu Nickel Refinery in North Queensland, bring a tremendous understating of the way power systems form the backbone of Data Centres.

Tony Riley

Events Director

Tony is National Manager at Yurika Telecoms a Government owned Corporation that works with business to provide resilient high capacity telecommunications services. Tony has been in business management roles for over 40 years from front line management positions to executive management in multiple verticals, Retail, Commercial and ICT to name a few. With a strong business mind set he offers the non IT perspective on IT investments and business projects from desktop as a service to Telecoms and IoT deployment.

Warren Knight

Membership Director

Warren is currently the Facilities Manager at the Polaris Data Centre in Springfield for Veolia Energy Solutions. Veolia integrate the most advanced energy solutions, including district heating and cooling networks, multi-technical services, production of industrial utilities and even comprehensive building management systems into major Data Centres and commercial buildings globally.
Warren has 27 years’ experience in refrigeration, air conditioning and management of facilities. He brings a wealth of knowledge to the chapter and enjoys sharing his knowledge with other chapter members.

David Goss

Dave is facilities designer with iiSolutions working at Uniting Care Health one of the largest not-for-profit private hospital groups in Queensland and is a service group of UnitingCare Queensland, along with UnitingCare Community, Blue Care and Australian Regional and Remote Community Services (ARRCS), which manages aged care and community services in the Northern Territory.

Over the past 28 years Dave has been directly involved in the design, delivery, and support of data centre power, cooling, security and DCIM solutions in New Zealand and Australia. Dave is passionate about everything Data Centres and constantly looks for opportunities to continuously improve and enhance the data centre core systems for efficiency, resilience and operational reliability by deployment of infrastructure management systems as a key member of a dynamic delivery team.

Design, implementation and management of ICT infrastructure in the data centre. Dave shares his knowledge and skills with chapter members and constantly looks to help educate others in the ICT industry.

Mick Joslin

Secretary

Mick has more than 25 years of experience in ICT infrastructure. His detailed understanding of operations, design and management comes from the time he spent during his career working as a data centre manager, technical consultant and communications/electrical construction manager. Mick founded iiSolutions in 2004 and today remains hands-on in his role as he focuses on his clients’ physical infrastructure and puts his expertise to work. Through iiSolutions partners Mick has a key insight into Data Centre Infrastructure Management (DCIM) and monitoring systems. He is pleased to be able to contribute to the Brisbane AFCOM chapter as their Secretary.
