ComDesign Infrastructure Solutions - Account executive

After graduating from the University of Florida Susan Kight moved to Charlotte, NC and started her career in the Communications industry. She worked for NuVox/Windstream, telecommunications providers and then made her move to ComDesign an A/V, Security, Access Control and Low Voltage Infrastructure Contractor. Focusing on Fortune 500 companies Susan's role is to provide expertise in these fields to industry leaders and end users. After almost 10 years in the communications industry she became active in A/E/C and Mission Critical organizations participating in committees and Board of Director positions. She works and volunteers within the community to help spread the word that Charlotte is Great!

Scott Blackman

Chapter Vice President

SRK Innovation, LLC - President

Mr. Blackman possesses twenty years of experience in the critical infrastructure industry. He has spent time with various equipment manufacturers, as well as working in the construction field focusing on critical environments. His experience in the management of service and project management roles in addition to the study of electrical engineering allow him to successfully manage the design and implementation phases of construction projects he is involved with. Mr Blackman has extensive knowledge in both the electrical and mechanical systems utilized in critical systems. His belief that detailed planning allows smooth and efficient execution of projects forms the core of Mr. Blackman’s Project Management expertise.
His experiences in the service industry have led to a high level of knowledge in electrical codes and design principles of critical facility systems allowing for proactive detection of issues early within the project planning, well before issues occur in the field. His background includes managing an international service organization, developing and managing a Project Engineering team, and developing and managing a Project Management Office. Mr. Blackman is a participant in the development of a college curriculum and certification testing for Mission Critical Operators. Some of his professional memberships include 7x24 Exchange Carolina’s Thought Leadership, AFCOM North Carolina Board of Directors, NFPA, IEEE, LEED, ASHRAE, and PMI.

Joe Colucci

The Whiting-Turner Contracting Company - Project Manager

Joe started working with Whiting-Turner in 2004 after receiving his Electrical Engineering Degree from the University of Dayton. He is currently a Project Manager located in Charlotte, NC and acts as the Southeast Coordinator of Mission Critical Facilities for the company. Joe has been active in AFCOM for three years and has spent the last year on the Steering Committee.

Ron Bostic

Membership Director

Ron Bostic, recently appointed to the AFCOM-NC board of directors, brings more than 20 years of executive leadership experience in the mission critical facility power industry.

Mr. Bostic has demonstrated success serving data center and critical facility infrastructure needs across multiple markets including commercial, government, financial, manufacturing, and telecommunication sectors. His diverse background includes executive and senior management roles among organizations ranging in size and type, from public enterprise-level companies, to smaller privately funded firms. In each of his previous roles he has successfully led major business growth and transformation initiatives with a history of success built on sound strategic and operational leadership, innovative thinking, and profitable growth.

Mr. Bostic currently serves as vice president and general manager with Critical Power Resource. Previous positions include senior vice president of business development with Pinnacle Telecommunications, business unit vice president with Thomas & Betts Global Services, general manager with Eaton Engineering Systems & Services, and vice president of North American services with Eaton-Powerware Corporation. He holds a bachelor’s degree in business management, and is a graduate of the Kenan-Flagler School of Business, University of North Carolina. Mr. Bostic is an active member and recognized thought-leader among multiple power quality and mission critical facility support associations.

Tonya Lowe


Tonya is an experienced customer focused sales and financial leader with exemplary record in startup, turnaround and international situations Experience spans strategic planning, forecasting, operations, and problem solving.

Previous positions: Leader, Sales Operations for Extreme Networks, a software & services lead networking solutions company committed to solving IT’s toughest networking challenges. Vice President, Finance for Sensus, a leading utility infrastructure company offering smart grid technology. Vice President Sales Operations & Strategy for Nortel, Inc. a multinational telecommunications equipment manufacturer.

Tonya currently serves as the Treasurer for the Board of Directors for the Alcohol & Drug Abuse Council of North Carolina as well as past Board positions for the Wake County Community Health Center.

Tonya is married to Bob with two grown sons & two granddaughters and her hobbies include tennis, jazzercise, Pilates and reading.

Kevin Burke

Director of Programs

VP, Critical Systems Engineering
Capitol Power Group, LLC

I graduated from Widener University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering. I also have a Master of Science degree in Engineering Management from Widener University. I am a licensed professional engineer in the State of New Jersey.

I have over 34 years of electrical engineering experience, the last twenty-nine of which have focused on critical power system design for data centers and other 7 X 24 facilities. Prior to entering the critical power system design field, I worked as an electrical engineer for the US Navy, designing flight deck lighting distribution systems.

I am currently the Vice President, Carolinas, Critical Systems Engineering for Capitol Power Group, LLC
As a part of this role, I assist in system design of, and provide technical support for critical power system projects to end-users, contractors, and the consulting engineering community. I have extensive experience in power distribution systems with a focus on Mission Critical Applications. I have managed large power systems projects in the North American market, providing technical support and project management assistance to independent sales representative firms, customers, and other regional managers.

Kasey Lankes

Director of Events

Kasey works at Syska Hennessy Group in Charlotte. She has worked for Syska for 5 years. Kasey is originally from Buffalo, NY and moved to Charlotte in 2004. She now resides in Fort Mill SC with my husband of 12 years, and our 2 beautiful daughters and our dog. Kasey loves living being on the Board of Directors for AFCOM. According to Kasey: she came to meet some wonderful people and gained a lot of knowledge by attending the meetings.

Noah Spencer

Communication Director

Noah Spencer has worked in a variety of environments including education, advanced manufacturing, and restaurant management. Currently, Noah is a recruiter for the Mission Critical Operations program at Wake Technical Community College. This program has been developed to train technicians for employment in a variety of 24/7 environments including advanced manufacturing, energy and hospital facilities management, and data centers.

During his time with the program, Noah has presented at numerous conferences across the nation, including: Scaling STEM Conference, Online Learning Consortium Innovate Conference, and the American Association of Community Colleges Conference. Noah is also an adjunct instructor teaching college and career success to students new to Wake Tech in the Computer Technologies division. Noah holds a Bachelor in Interdisciplinary Studies from Winston-Salem State University. With a passion for education and expanding opportunities for those within the community, Noah is excited to further serve as a member of AFCOM's board.

Valerie Anderson

Membership Coordinator - Raleigh

Vice-President and National Sales Manager

Valerie started her career at Boon Edam in Inside Sales and was promoted to Inside Sales manager in 2009. After Managing the Inside Sales team for 3 years she was promoted to Vice-President of Product and Customer Support where her role transitioned into Vice-President of Customer Experience leading the entire Customer Support Organization of Boon Edam Inc. She has also been part of Boon Edam's Inc Executive Management Team for the last 6 years.

A native of North Carolina, Valerie has a degree in Business Management and lives in a suburb in Raleigh.
