Strategic Alliance Manager

Carsten Bauman is a Strategic Alliance Manager with the Schneider Electric Data Center division. He assists customers in defining energy efficient data centers and facilitates business collaborations within all business units at Schneider Electric. He is part of Schneider Electric’s New Energy Landscape Council, where he defines and promotes complex energy generation solutions for data centers. Since 2016, he also serves as a Schneider Electric Ambassador with the objective to support Energy Management and Automation principals.

From 2010 to 2015 he served as Treasurer, and since early 2016 he now serves as President on the Board of Directors at AFCOM Southern California. Under his guidance he established the Chapter to operate as a non-profit organization, implemented the first annual educational agenda and helped other chapters to advance their mission.

He is also part of the AFCOM Educational committee where he was responsible to draft the guiding mission statement. In his role as President, he promotes building an ecosystem for education and for fostering social connections within the regional data center community in Southern California.

David Sipes

David is a veteran Data Center Technologies and Operations Professional with more than 20 years of industry experience. Throughout his career he has been a technology architect supporting significant growth in profitability for major U.S. based companies. His executive strengths include forming strategic technology and operations direction for companies, architecting data center strategies to support todays business demands, building and restructuring I.T. business units, aligning resources, and creating systems necessary to accomplish ambitious objectives.

David is currently a Global Data Center and Disaster Recovery Manager for Jacobs Engineering where he is responsible for driving the delivery of a centralized, agile global data center and disaster recovery strategy to support the businesses high-availability IT strategy as well as address the business goals and operational requirements.

David also currently serves on the Board of Directors for Southern California AFCOM, a professional association that advances data center professionals by delivering comprehensive and vendor-neutral education and peer-to-peer networking to its members around the globe. Prior to Jacobs, David has been a Data Center Product Consultant for Eaton Corporation, Principle Consultant with Finity Consulting and was Director of Information Technology for IPOWER, noted by INC Fortune for several years as one of the fastest growing companies. With IPOWER he oversaw the Data Center and Technology Divisions helping to grow the organization to over $60 Million in annual revenue with 750,000 recurring billed clients in 5 years.

In addition to his professional accomplishments David is a graduate of National University with a Masters in Business Administration and is certified as a Data Center Design Professional. A native of Southern, California, David served in the U.S. Navy during Operation Desert Storm.

John Robertson

Chapter VP Operations

Manager, Data Centers Blizzard Entertainment

John Robertson is a Data Center Manager at Blizzard Entertainment. He joined Blizzard in 2004 as a Tools Programmer and Systems Administrator bringing more than 15 years’ experience of technical expertise in disciplines that include Application, Network, Systems and Data Center Design. He and his team are responsible for all global Data Centers that deliver epic gaming services to millions of enthusiastic customers.

John brings a wealth of experience in infrastructure operations, system management, IT Strategy, contract management, ITIL, vendor management, capacity management/planning, and data center IT infrastructure services. Colleagues know John to be passionate about his work and an individual people want to collaborate with.

An Orange County native, John received his B.S. in Computer Science from California State University, Fullerton and also has attained his CDCDP certification.

Douglas Alman

Associate Director

Doug Alman is Associate Director – Technology, Global Technical Space Operations for AT&T, based in San Diego, CA. He directs and manages the Technical Field Services team responsible for the operation and evolution of more than 30 data centers and Internet POPs, supporting AT&T Entertainment Services, CDN hosting and AT&T Integrated Cloud (AIC). Doug is a twenty-five year veteran of the telecom and content distribution industry, previously serving in a variety of engineering and operations-management positions within AT&T and affiliate companies. Doug has a passion for innovation, holding three patents in content distribution and emergency-alerting technologies. He is also a Certified Data Centre Management Professional (CDCMP) and Certified Broadcast Television Engineer (CBTE).
